When you mention the name Steamboat Springs it brings to mind a place rich in Western Heritage. Cowboy Downhill started over 40 years ago when Billy Kidd, Steamboat Director of Skiing, and Larry Mahan, six-time All-Around World Champion cowboy, decided to bring together a group of the ProRodeo stars to Steamboat for an action packed day on the ski slope. The event was so popular, it’s grown into a signature event in the area.

The event begins at the base of the Gondola with a 4H animal petting zoo, a roping clinic, limited edition Bud Light Cowboy Downhill logowear and much more. Starting at 1:00pm over 100 professional rodeo cowboys will compete in the the Dual Slalom Race. And it doesn't end there, following the Slalom Race, it's a wild Western Stampede while cowboys dressed in their rodeo attire, including hats and chaps, all barrel down the main run all at the same time.

The festivities continue following the race with live musical entertainment in the Bud Light Tents, and at the Bear River Bar and Grill. This is an annual event that you don't want to miss! For more information about the event please visit Steamboat Springs Chamber of Commerce.
